As the name implies, the POTATO-NATOR is the result of gene-splicing the SWEET POTATO and the DOMINATOR. With a longer rail line and less girth than the POTATO, and a slightly pulled in nose similar to the DOMINATOR, the POTATO-NATOR is meant to be ridden 4"-6" longer than a POTATO, and approx. 2" shorter than the DM. The double concaves are softer than the SWEET POTATO and while the overall rocker has been increased slightly to enhance performance, the low entry rocker remains which makes paddling a breeze. Designed primarily for 2'-4' surf, the POTATO-NATOR will hold its ownin 3'-5' as well. Fin placement is optimized to be ridden as a quad, but don't be afraid to throw in a small, knubby trailer fin to help this hybrid 4-finner come alive in new ways. Splice and dice it up!

The Technology

Firewire Surfboards’ Future Shapes Technology features controlled flex memory with rapid rebound.  The parabolic balsa wood rails flex at the start of a turn storing energy and rebound through the turn, releasing built up energy in the form of speed.  The spring back of the parabolic rails to the original rocker triggers rapid acceleration, like an arrow shot from a bow.  Combined with the composite materials used in Firewire’s sandwich construction, parabolic balsa rails reduce material fatigue and ensure that the board maintains its long-lasting “twang.”

The Materials

Using expanded polystyrene foam cores, high-density foam outer skins and high-tech epoxy resins, Firewire surfboards are up to 20% lighter than traditional polyurethane foam boards, and maintains its “new board” liveliness 5-10 times longer.  Furthermore, the use of parabolic balsa rails and composite materials reduces premature denting and material fatigue.

NOTE: Due to non-standard (oversized) packaging, surfboards are shipped by a different carrier and may incur additional shipping fees. When ordering a surfboard, please select Ground shipping.  The actual fee will be calculated once the board has been packaged and weighed, and if substantially different, you will be contacted prior to our charging this fee to your card.
