Larry Bertlemann was the quintessential pioneer of New School surfing. “Anything is Possible” was the mantra he adopted into his mind-bending, space-aged approach to wave riding. Being an avid skateboarder, his skate influenced wave improvisation was a functional mix of low gravity high-g cutbacks, 360’s and switch stance surfing. Larry Bertlemann changed the way we ride waves. His 6’0 Santa Cruz twin fin model is the epitome of blending the old with the new. A skate influenced contemporary version of the board he rode in the 80’s.

WHY SANTA CRUZ?
Environmentally friendly- EPS and Epoxy are more environmentally friendly materials. Epoxy resin emits almost zero fumes and is less toxic to the laminator. Santa Cruz surfboards can last up to 10 times longer than a standard PU board if proper care is taken. This more sustainable board will spend most of its life in the ocean rather than a landfill.
Durability- The number one benefit of epoxy is its strength to weight ratio. Epoxy resin weighs about 15% less but is 30% stronger than polyester. 100% percent stronger against pressure dings.
Travel- The durability of Santa Cruz boards makes them ideal for travel. You can count on your board arriving at your destination in one piece ready to perform. Don’t let perfect glassy barrels go unridden because someone decided to drive a forklift into your board bag. The lightweight nature keeps your bag light and your back healthy.
Repair- Contrary to popular belief, epoxy boards are quite easy to repair. A simple epoxy repair putty can patch up a ding in less than a minute. Cures in water, sand later. Let’s surf.
Flex- Epoxy has a quicker flex pattern, giving the rider greater whip and board response time. This difference also gives the board the added benefit of catching waves easier and getting up to speed faster.
Repeatability- Get your favorite board over and over. If you travel, you can leave one where you go the most. You can sell one and return light with no board fees.
UV resistant- Epoxy can withstand more sun exposure and will not yellow or fade over time. This doesn’t mean its ok to leave your board in your car during a heat wave but with proper care, your board will last you a long, long time.
